Then I saw the VCU Brandcenter was starting a track called Experience Design, so I threw caution to the wind, packed up and headed to Richmond, VA to learn me some new skills. I spent two years adding strong interactive chops to my writing skills: User Experience, Interaction Design, Mobile Apps and fighting like hell to get traditional creative to see the value of bringing real digital experiences into campaigns. When I re-entered the biz, I was more than a copywriter, I had utility belt that made me the sum of all those parts. Since then, I've had the privilege of working with brands like Google, American Express, Nike, Coca-Cola, Audi (and many more) to craft strong messages in and out of the digital space. Additionally, I've had experiences in agencies doing experiential branding and in corporate settings building strong stories that resonate with customers. I've also found that my strength lies in writing/content strategy with an emphasis on emerging technology and customer-centric solutions. Solution: Build an immersive experience for Google Ideas’ global conference on illicit networks that allows attendees to see effects of criminal behavior around the world. Google Ideas explores the role that technology can play in tackling the toughest human challenges. Their global summit: INFO (Illicit Networks–Forces in Opposition) brought leaders together to reveal how technology exposes, maps and disrupts drug smugglers, arms dealers and human traffickers. We created interactive exhibits at the conference to show attendees how lives around the world are impacted by illicit networks. These included: An Illicit Encounters touchscreen booth allowed users to roleplay; The World of the Illicit used Google Earth to displayed areas where high concentrations of activity occur; The Illicit Goods Vending Machine sold imitation items using Google Wallet and donated money to charity; A North Korean Care Package was "unboxed" using a touchscreen (see below); Journey of an AK-47 showed attendees how the gun ended up in the hands of a warlord, was reclaimed and ultimately turned into jewelry (see below). When Westin Hotels &amp; Resorts joined the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon series as a sponsor, they were looking to be more than a hotel. They created an exclusive VIP Marathon Package for runners traveling to the events. Our task was to get the attention of runners and let them know Westin could take care of their needs. In order to reduce stress of not only traveling for a race, but also first-time jitters, we concluded runners needed a partner; an expert who travels around the country to help guests run their best race by eliminating common pain points: the RunWESTIN Concierge. Whoever it was had to be one of them - someone who knows the ins and outs of marathon running.
